A Whole New World… Dare to start with Zero: It’s possible
It was Tuesday when I went to the CNSM to inquire to transfer to their college. I wasn’t at ease of course. It was an odd feeling. Everything was strange, and I didn’t know anyone. I know that it is got to be a whole new world for me. I went to the Math/IT department office, and Ma’am Disca was waving at me. She knew about my plans because Mama told her about it. She was tapping my shoulder when she asked Sir Leonida about me. “No problem, as long as he has no failing grades in his previous Math’s…”. He then inspected my evaluation sheet, and he said that I can transfer to their college. He gave me their prospectus, and he said that I can return on Thursday for the encoding of subjects. I never thought that that would be very easy, but I am thankful that they accepted my request. When I got out the office, I saw Kuya Ian. He is a co-member in the E-Gen Ministry, previously from the College of Engineering, and then also transferred in the CNSM just last semester. He was alone, and I was really eager to approach him. But maybe we are not YET so close so I managed to save that time. When I returned on Thursday, woooh, I was surprised to see a bunch of people. Not from afar was Kuya Ian again, but this time he has company, so I didn’t bother him at all. I went on a distant space and sat alone. Kuya Ian saw me, but maybe he was also reluctant to approach me. He knew that I will be shifting to their college, that somehow he was hesitant if he will approach me or not . I knew that he has seen me already but I still tried to hide. I was watching everyone, they were chatting, and laughing, and I was thinking that ‘I am out of place, ‘I do not belong. But I wasn’t really alone. I was waiting for Ate Leonelle Vallejo, and Rechell Ann Emejas. They will also transfer here in CNSM. When they arrived, they first saw Kuya Ian , and altogether they approached me . We all went to Sir Leonida, and they handed him their documents. He told us to return by the afternoon. We went back to the H building to process our INC’s. We saw Kristine Joy Lagura, and we told her about our transfer to the CNSM. She was inquiring about the requirements, because she also wants to transfer. I thought she was not serious at all, but she began processing her shifting form and evaluation sheet. We went back in the afternoon, with Kristine Joy, and Sir Leonida started encoding our subjects. Finally, I am a certified “shifter”, though we still have to come back for Monday for the printing of the Certificate of Registrar . Now, I am already enrolled in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics as a Bachelor of Science Major in Mathematics student. Everything will be different now and I need to adapt these changes. Everything is brand new, new place, new college, new people and classmates, new life, new hopes and dreams. And I need new perspectives to overcome this whole new world. As Carol of PBB said, “Failure is not allowed”. Yeah, this time it won’t happen. I cannot afford to fail anymore with this brand new chance. As Ate Judith always tells us, “Excellence is a must, we have an excellent GOD, and as his children, we must be excellent.” And I know I can do that. A single step can go a hundred miles. Dare to start with zero. It’s possible!
